Application
Use the Apply Now button above to open an application (use the Log In link in the upper right corner of the page to return to your application if you've already opened one). If there is no Apply Now button visible, applications for this program have not yet been opened for the upcoming Maymester term. Maymesters are generally announced, and applications generally open, in November of the preceding fall.
Planning Ahead – Chinese Visa Application
Obtaining a visa to enter China can be challenging and can take longer than anticipated. Because of this, it is important for students to plan ahead and not wait until the last minute to apply for the visa. Students who do not yet have a passport or need to renew their passport* should ensure they will receive their new/renewed passport in time to apply for the Chinese visa.
While students cannot apply for a Chinese visa before they are accepted into their program, we strongly advise that students applying for a Maymester Program or Travel-Embedded Course in China research the visa requirements as soon as possible and begin gathering any requested materials.
We encourage students to carefully review the Guidelines for China Online VISA Application (COVA) well ahead of applying for their Chinese visa.
*Students cannot apply for a visa without a valid passport. For a student who does not yet have a passport or who needs to renew their passport, we recommend requesting to have their passport application/renewal expedited.
US Citizens will find passport application and renewal information here.
NOTE: Waiting until the last minute to apply for the visa could mean that the visa is not issued in time for the start of the program and can result in a late withdrawal from the program which will include late withdrawal charges.
