Program Description:

In this program, facilitated by IFSA-Butler, students enroll directly in the University of Sydney, one of Australia's most prestigious universities, modeled after Oxford. The main campus is located next to the laid-back, trendy Newtown neighborhood with a strong café culture. Over 4,000 course are available in a large range of disciplines. Students live with other IFSA-Butler students in Urbanest apartments. Studying in Sydney allows students to experience the Sydneysiders warmth and multicultural flair of the city!

Notice for Spring applicants: Please note that for The University of Sydney, IFSA offers both an Early Start/Depart program and Standard Program. The Standard Program follows the Australian academic calendar, and typically ends mid-late June. Students MUST follow the University of Sydney's exam policies, and are not permitted to depart the program before their final exams. The University of Sydney final exam schedule is typically released mid-semester, and requests for early exams are not permitted by USYD faculty. Any students anticipating needing to leave the program early should apply for the Early Start/Depart program.

This program is located in the Southern Hemisphere, where the academic calendar differs from the Northern Hemisphere. Please check the start and end dates carefully to make sure they don't conflict with other obligations, such as a summer internship.

Please note that students may not enroll in courses that are delivered in any remote or multimodal/hybrid capacity. Vanderbilt requires students to only enroll in courses that are delivered in-person.
 

Vanderbilt Study Abroad Housing Policy

To experience the full nature of a study abroad program, and consistent with the spirit of the Vanderbilt University Residential Requirement, Vanderbilt students are required to live in program-arranged housing. Starting with Spring 2027, students will be required to live in IFSA housing. Independent housing will not be an option. Please talk with your study abroad advisor if you have further questions.
